12TH DIGITAL ARTS FESTIVAL: DIGITAL POP IN ATHENS

If digital art is your passion, you can’t miss this year’s Digital Arts Festival in the center of Athens! There you will find a brilliant mixture of design, digital art and music ready to amuse you.

adaf 2016The International Festival of Digital Arts of Greece, Athens Digital Arts Festival (ADAF) is an annual event taking place in the center of Athens so as to bring together artists and audiences from all over the world to celebrate digital culture and creativity.

ADAF 2016 invites you to a four-day celebration that will be held from the 19th to 22nd of May at the building complex Gate Ermou 117 – 121. Meanwhile, the ADAF will present artists and AV performances at Six Dogs as well as an exhibition on Digital Image and night open air screenings at Agia Irini Square, in the historic center of Athens.

The main subject of ADAF 2016 will be Digital Pop, as it will be exploring different aspects of pop in the digital era and how digital technology and the internet have affected the development of arts. For example, nowadays Pop is defined by social media such as likes, shares, tweets, views or followers which show the audience’s power to shape trends and attitudes. Pop is the culture of “here and now”.

The festival will include audiovisual performances, the exclusive focus raster-noton event with artists of the international electronic music label raster noton and close up with the performance Recession with the known collectiva 1024 from France, inviting guests to marvel all the amazing audiovisual live acts.

Works from 450 artists from 60 countries will be presented through a multidimensional program including interactive and audiovisual installations, creative workshops for adults and for children, video art, Internet projects and the new addition of ADAF KIDS will sure amaze all individuals. Visitors will also have the opportunity to participate in many lectures and presentations of international festivals like the Japan Media Arts Festival (Japan), Loop Festival (Spain), Anima (Belgium), Locomocion (Mexico) and many more.

As for the screening program, it will consist of the know documentary, The Story of Technoviking, the program of video art VIDEOsPAIN by Spanish artists, the From A to Z in Loop program from students of the Technological Educational Institute of Athens and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
